Ben Cousins has shown he's still got it on the footy field and now he's turning his hand to radio, with a regular gig at a popular Melbourne station.

Nova 100 has announced that Cousins will join Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek on Monday mornings as a football expert for the 2009 AFL season.

"Ben will recap the weekends matches, discuss any topical issues that arise during these games or in training and talk about life in Melbourne," Nova said in a statement.

Cuz on Nova this morning.

* Felt good to be back out amongst it and get an early touch. Game didn't pan out the way we would've like. Tough night all around for all of us. Carlton were very good and will be a very good side this year. Thinks we are a lot better side than what we displayed. We'll dissect that this week. Test this week against the pace setters Geelong. What could've gone wrong did go wrong. Wallace didn't go nuts after the game but was certainly straight to the point and said what needed to be said. There was a touch of brutality.

* Didn't feel any extra pressure being the newbie. The expectation comes from himself to perform well and repay the faith that Richmond put in him.

* Copped a black eye (a little one). Didn't know where he got it but the others there said Cameron Cloke collected him. Cuz partly blamed himself for a lack of peripheral vision.

* He went through the hammy thing again. Said at the 3/4 time the niggle wasn't hammy related. No responsibility on the medicos. He said he was right to go out. Done more severe hammies in the past and this is minor. How long out will be managed because of his age. It's just all part of adapting back to 18 months of your muscles not being use to doing the things they need to do.

* Laughs at jokes about himself. He's been an easy target. You've got to find the humour.

* They asked Cuz about his veiny arms.

* Weighs 83.3kg. He normally played at 80kg.

Ben Cousins Footy Report

Cousins gave Hughesy & Kate an update on his broken hand and spoke jokingly about being medicated at the hospital. He also expressed disappointment at the unrest at the Richmond Footy Club.
