It's a Tiger cub's honour
Herald-Sun | June 11, 2009
MOST Tigers fans have to think back almost three decades to dredge up their happiest MCG memory - the 1980 premiership win.
But a day at the ground in 2004 was just as good for Richmond fanatic Mick Aldridge. It was there he saw fellow cheer squad devotee Jenny, and they married a year later.
Mick and Jenny walked down the aisle - with groom and groomsmen wearing Richmond socks - to the roar of the Tigers' club song.
Now, with two-year-old son Charlie, a day at the MCG is a real family affair.
Launching the MCG Rite of Passage, Mick said the chance to take his little Tiger cub on to the ground was a thrill.
The day is a rare chance for 550 children and their families to run on to the 'G before the Richmond v Carlton clash on July 11, meet their AFL heroes, receive an MCG show bag and a free football.
To join the fun, parents or guardians must register on the MCG website from 9am Thursday 11 June. Registration opens on Thursday, June 21, closing at midnight on Sunday, June 24.
