excellent will put pressure on twig to drop sloppy now
Funny how Lids puts in a good game so you move onto someone else
When Hislop was the player Rawlings singled out for praise in the media after the game, why on earth would he be getting dropped next week?
He had 19 disposals and a goal in only his 13th game of AFL, in fact it was his best game so far in his short career
You have a strange method of developing players
With TW gone and Bowden in the twos, the focus has to be applied to someone else! It is  not in our nature to look at the positive side of a player when our mind was made up before giving a bloke a go! We need a sacrificial lamb and we are starting to run out of sheep!

Why bother Infamy, I don't think there is anyone at the RFC that TT actually likes........... well except for Campbell :whistle
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

Good stuff by the Burgers. It would've been nicer if a few more RFC guys were named in the bests although the list on the VFL site can be unreliable. We don't want to see Jordie back in the side  :help.

Line in the sand spurs Coburg
Chris Mitchell | July 06, 2009

AN HONESTY session was the catalyst behind Coburg's 36-point win against Northern Bullants yesterday.

A host of Richmond players put their hands up for a spot in the AFL side in the win at Coburg City Oval.

Caretaker coach and Brisbane Lions legend Craig McRae, who has replaced Jade Rawlings at the club for the rest of the season, was thrilled with his first win in charge of Richmond's VFL affiliate.

After three straight losses the win pushed the Tigers to sixth on the ladder and in reach of the top four, while the Bullants slipped to eighth.

"We had a good meeting on Monday when we sat around as a group and we identified some behaviours that we are going to live by for the remainder of the year," McRae said.

"We made it pretty clear that if you're not going to play your role you put yourself in jeopardy of staying in the team, regardless of who you are and what your history has been. It was pretty much a line in the sand and the group responded terrifically."

Led by a brilliant midfield, the Tigers rallied from 15 points down at quarter-time to boot nine second-half goals to seal their sixth win of the season, despite the best efforts of Carlton veterans Nick Stevens (23 possessions) and Heath Scotland (35).

Richmond tall Graham Polak, wearing a helmet and still on the comeback trail after being hit by a tram and suffering head injuries last year, was impressive for Coburg with 16 possessions and seven marks playing in the ruck and in defence.

"He's deserved his opportunity," McRae said. "He's been playing really good footy for a number of weeks in the reserves. He was marking the footy as he can. He contributed well and if he keeps progressing he will be happy."

Jordan McMahon put his hand up for a spot in the Richmond side to tackle Carlton at the MCG on Saturday with 34 possessions across half-back, while Glen Carrick (23 touches), Mark Coughlan (20, four marks), Andrew Raines (15 touches) and Adam Thomson (19 disposals, eight marks) were also impressive.

Thomson ended the match with ice on his right knee.

Much-maligned Richmond forward Cleve Hughes, in just his third senior VFL game this season, provided a strong target and kicked two goals to go with 10 disposals and eight marks, while defenders Alex Rance (19 disposals) and Jake King (19) were solid.

Coburg captain Nick Carnell, who had the big job on Stevens, booted four goals in a best-afield display.

Can vouch for Vosstiger's report as I was there as well.

Coburg gains first win under McRae
VFL site
By Bryce Jarvis

From the look of the dark ominous clouds that hovered above ABD Group stadium, it appeared from the outset that an old fashion slog out in the mud was going to be played out. The heavens failed to open however, and in the end a free flowing, hard fought match was easily slammed home by the Burgers, winners by 36 points.

The first quarter belonged solely to the Bullants, with Coburg only able to kick three majors, those coming from Pattison, Oakley-Nicholls & Raines. The Bullants virtually shut down Coburg's half forward line, with Nick Stevens dominating with early possessions.

Overall the Bullants had 13 shots on goal, and if not for poor kicking would have gone into the first break with a far bigger lead than fifteen points. Jarrod Bannister kicked his two goals for the game in the first , Stevens kicked the first goal of the game, with a brilliant snap at the two minute mark. Ellard was the other major scorer for the Bullants in the first.

It was like a completely new Coburg outfit in the second quarter, the hard nosed football that the Burgers are becoming notorious for was back. The burgers kicked five goals for the quarter, with several other chances going begging to go in 9 point leaders at the  half-time break.

Jordan McMahon, Nick Liddle and Matthew White were explosive across the ground and their delivery set up the Tigers forwards on several occasions. Pattison added his second for the day, Coughlan, Clarke, Liddle and Carnell all contributed majors for the quarter.

The only shining lights for the Bullants in the second quarter, were big Cameron Cloke and Luke Morgan, who both contributed to the scoreboard. But in addition they also added some much needed heart to the Bullants outfit, which lacked cohesiveness and the spark they brought to the first quarter.

The third quarter was a tightly contested battle with the ball going back and forward like a yo-yo. Neither the Burgers or the Bullants were able to stamp their authority on the game, with the Tigers going in 16 points leaders into the last quarter. King, Pettifer and Carrick all kicked majors for the Burgers, with Hadlee & Yarran booting two vital goals for the Bullants. Carrick had a huge third, as did Adam Pattison.

The fourth quarter belonged entirely to the Burgers in particular Nick Carnell, who booted three magnificent captains goals to drive Coburg home by 36 points. Ellard, Tiller, Cloke and Scotland all stood up for the Bullants, but Coburg just had a stronger attack at the uncontested ball. Cleve Hughes played well throughout the day but owned the forward line in the last, booting two fantastic goals.

Overall a fantastic effort from the Tigers, who for now have stemmed the bleeding from a series of bad losses. The next few weeks however, will separate the contenders from the pretenders. Coburg's next three matches are away games and are against some quality opposition in Williamstown, Geelong and Casey, with that in mind it could well be a season-defining month for the Burgers.
