Magpie Gavin Brown open to offers from other clubs
Brent Diamond | August 2, 2009

COLLINGWOOD assistant Gavin Brown has said he is open to talks with both North Melbourne or Richmond regarding a coaching role next season, although he maintains he is also loving his role with the Magpies.

It is understood Brown could be the ’’collateral damage’’ in the Mick Malthouse-Nathan Buckley coaching model, despite being contracted for 2010, and that the Kangaroos will contact him today to arrange an informal interview for a possible role at the club.

‘‘They haven’t contacted me yet … I do want to be a senior coach one day and being able to do this job has given me a lot of experience and confidence,’’ Brown said.

Brown has worked as an assistant under Malthouse since retiring as a player in 2000 and became the first coach of Collingwood’s VFL team which began as a stand-alone club last season.

I can't see him getting a senior job anywhere while he remains in the same job at the same cushy over resources club for 10 years.
He should go and be an assistant coach at a club like North Melbourne for a couple of years and see what it takes to work as an assistant at a club with no money. That will make him a better coach in the long run and will put him higher on the list of potential candidates.

Yep proof of the fact Collingwood look after their own.

Caracella well he played won flags Essendon and Brisbane against the Pies.
Brad Scott he won a flag against the Pies.

Gavin Brown should never have been knocked out by Daniher in the 1990 GF. At Collingwood they don't stand for getting bullied nor mediocrity. With such qualities why "Rowdy" was ever made captain of the club is beyond me.

Now Bucks there is a through and through Collingwood person having signed pre draft for North Melbourne and then playing for Brisbane.

Eddie certainly knows how to cater to his ego and must give fantastic jim boogies.
It's called totalitarianism. Nobody else will have a say.
