The AFL site early this year had a Paul? Contin. Must be a typo

Pat Contin
D.O.B:   23-May-1991
Club:   Glenelg
State:   SA
Height:   181cm
Weight:   81kg

Versatile running midfielder who can also play at either end of the ground. Ability to find plenty of the footy and consistently use it to his side?s advantage are his strengths.

What the recruiters say:
Pat hails from Millicent in South Australia’s south east, a prime breeding ground of the Glenleg Football Club zone.

Pat is an inside midfielder with real footy smarts and the ability to find team mates with handball under pressure at the stoppages. He brings his team mates into the game with creative handball and an ability to read the play. He is a very natural, balanced and penetrating kick despite his inside ball winning abilities would often play as the designated kicker on the outside of the contest.

In 2009 Pat played 15 games with the Glenelg Football Club U18’s including their Grand Final winning side after 3 games with the now defunct U17 competition in 2008. This year he averaged 21 possessions per game playing a variety of roles through the middle, as a designated kicker at half back, half forward and appearing in the best players 6 times. He was exceptional against Woodville West Torrens in round 13 with 30 possessions, 7 marks, 5 tackles, 7 inside 50’s and 2 goals.

The club has looked to add Pat to its list of creative midfielders who can make good decisions under pressure and bring strong running players into the game. He sees the game very well and is a very unflustered, cool player. He already has a high endurance base to work with and will look to improve his strength and power initially.

Pat Contin in his own words:

What type of player are you?
I would say a running midfielder, but have been played in a number of positions this year, both back and forward.

Which AFL player do you feel you resemble, and why?
Jobe Watson from Essendon because like him I get a lot of the footy and I pride myself on my disposal, don't kick many goals but still have an influence in the outcome of the game.

What are your strengths as a footballer?
My decision making and skills are my strongest points. I have huge expectations of myself and so these parts of my game I try to be the best at.

What parts of your game would you like to improve?
My work rate is something that I would like to see improve, and I don't kick a lot of goals so kicking a goal or two each game is something that could help my game.

Which AFL team do you support and how did you come to barrack for them?
Essendon. I grew up supporting them because mum and dad both followed them.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career so far, and why?
My dad and my brother. My dad because he has been there for me throughout my career and my brother because he was in the same position I am now and he has mentored me a lot this year.

From: ‘Mr Mercurial’ off to the Power
15 Dec 09 @ 02:33pm by Reece Homfray

Contin moved from Millicent to Adelaide this year but is now packing his bags and heading to Richmond.

``I knew Richmond were keen all year,’’ Cox said.

``So it doesn’t surprise us and it’s great for Patty.

``He made the move from Milicent to Adelaide this year so for him and his family what a fantastic experience.

``I guess it shows if you’re prepared to take a punt and come down, something can happen.’’

Contin is known for his fitness and won Glenelg’s 3km time trial at pre-season training last week.

Like most of our mids that have been recruited this year, has a physique that will fill out into that Mid 80k range where the elite Mids  are at...

His highlight reel looked like he may be able to bust a pack as he gets older.  But he didn't kick enormously well to a target.

Looks the goods. Must have flaws in his game to have dropped that far surely.
