Summary
* Hammy is okay. Played a half in Alice Springs and will play a full game against Hawthorn tomorrow night. Best preseason ever doing only about 3 sessions lol.
* Hawthorn will be a good challenge. Against Port we played some really good passages and some poor ones. This time of year is all about getting better.
* Conca good kid off the field and will become excellent on it. He's nickname is Concs (Conks). Batchelor has been good down back. Helbig's got fire. MacDonald good around goals but still has a lot to learn about footy. Derickx still learning about ruck and will be competing with Gus for that ruck position.
* Foley nickname now is "swoley" (swally) as it's transformed from Axel Foley. He's had a great preseason; he's fit; they are making sure he's not going overboard and watching that achilles as he's a hard trainer. Preseason for most of us is more about maintenance. With how quick and hard the game is now on the body you've got to be careful you don't run yourself into the ground.
* Jack is a lot more mature when he first arrived but you can always count on him to cheer everyone up.
* Dimma's strength is he is good with people. With such a young group and with guys coming from interstate he promotes everyone having a good time and being good mates. A great place to be and so footy is enjoyable because we're having fun.
* Dimma is all about nurturing and educating. He'll give us a spray when we deserve it but it we play a good game but are beaten by a better and more experienced side then he encourages and educates.
* Jacko spoke about the Fighting Tiger fund - eliminating debt to eliminate interest payments which can be better spent elsewhere. Leadership group will be making a substantial contribution. Perhaps we'll also organise a night where each player brings 9 friends/family and raise some more money. He believes we have a bit more than the official tally says but they (the club) will release that as we go.
* NAB Cup rules - only one he didn't like was the out of bounds rule. We're not Soccer or basketball. Overall if we want players to play until they're 30 and if we are going to extend the season then we should look at just having a couple of exhibition (preseason) games rather than the 5 we have now and just get straight into the main season.
* Sat in on the CBA discussions - with the 18 teams the season will be stretched to 24 rounds with two byes.
