Your r22 side

A thread which asks - what side are you hoping for in r22. This team is the team that you hope will be the majority of the side that takes the field in 2011. Probably this side will be a very young side- so lets get peoples opinions.

B:    Moore   Thursfield  Newman
HB:  Martin   McGuane  Tambling
C:   Deledio    Foley      Collins
HF:   Post     Riewoldt   Taylor
F:    Nahas    Griffiths   Morton

R:   Vickory   Cotchin   Jackson

Int: Grimes/Dea, Cousins, Graham, Tuck

E: Polo, Rance, Dea/Grimes and Farmer

Very young side.

- No McMahon, Simmonds or King unfortunately not confident that in 21 games they can turn careers around. Would love to be proved wrong.

- Haven't seen enough of Thompson to pick him compared to the draft videos of the boys I picked.

- Hislop maybe could get a game for some extra hardness but by the looks of the side not many skinny bodies out there. But if we can't fit Hislop in its a good thing being a stronger side.

- Hopefully no injuries means no rookies.

- M.White stiff.

- A.Browne to continue to develop

- B.Nason to be a smokey. Working very hard.

- Astubury to have a development year at Coburg

- Connors needs an injury free and impressive year to be back in 2011. Hope he can do it.

Edited because I left Foley out. Its a worry that the captain cant find a spot besides back pocket though

IMHO Newman, Foley and McGuane should all be shopped around at the end of 2010 particularly to the Gold Coast

Depending on what some of the younger guys are showing though Ramps. To be expendable they need to have replacements. Some people may argue that that these guys are easliy replacable, but some people seem to think that if a player is not a superstar then he is crap.

There's no such thing as a sure thing in the draft and sometimes the old adage about a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush rings true. Depth in the squad is also important

For what its's worth, I think Foley is the clear pick of those three and the side missed him towards the end of the season.
Mcguane needs to improve his kicking.
Newman just doesnt hurt the opposition enough, perhaps he needs to spend time in the middle to see if he can do so. (I dont mean physically)

You would hope it's mostly young blokes who will form the core part of our future (so end of year delistings/retirements will hardly affect us come 2011) while still being competitive on-field. Probably the only oldies being Cuz and Newy and then twenty 24 y.o. and unders.

I think most of the first year newbies will be left to develop at Coburg.

I forgot about him although I still haven't seen enough of him to judge. Size wise he looks ready to go (181cm, 81kgs).

been a big supporter of alex but he needs to show he can be composed when he has the footy, needs to improve kicking efficiency in particular and needs to get more of the ball if he isnt a key defensive spot, when these things happen he will become a fixture in the 22.
