Gold Coast can also pre-list 10 players who had previously nominated for the AFL Draft, or were previously listed with an AFL club, during this period.

Pre-list players that had nominated for which draft?
Does that mean they could for example list Cousins, if so what say in it does the player/club they belong to now have in them going there?

If we lose McGuane we'll need to target a few of our own.

We need to hang on to McGuane. Shows the most aggression and will be even more valuable to our backline once he bulks up too.

McGaune?

I looked up the RFC site in relation to who our defenders are

McGuane, Moore, Thursfield, Rance, Newman, King, McMahon, Jackson, Polak

Of those I'd only target Jackson or McGuane.  The others for age, height or (unknown) ability reasons I wouldn't bother.
Im sure the GC could find other KPP on other list more promising than our crop so I doubt we will lose a defender.

If I was them and I was picking one player from the Richmond list I would go for one of
Deledio
Cotchin
Vickery
Reiwoldt

And I think all of them would be relativley easy to target as the GC is almost a guaranteed flag in the next 10 years, purely because they have the draft concessions and a great recruiter in Scott Clayton.

This is why we must and IMO should have already given the Captain role to Lids, Cotchin should also be offered VC when he stays on the park long enough.

Newman should have been replaced as Captain by Cousins. Deledio and Cotchin should have been made VC under Cousins with Deledio next in line. Another group of 2 or 3 youngsters should have been made DVC in that structure as well.

McGaune?

Signed a 3 year contract in October, wants to stay at RFC

Well thats good news, hopefully we won't lose anyone of value to the club.

Maybe if we cross our fingers, the gods are good to us and their recuting team are all drunk.
They just might possibly consider thinking of maybe having a look at him.

I think we have a 'potential' surplus of tall(ish) defenders. If we can get a decent pick for a top 3 rated KPD(namely McGuane, Moore or Thursfield and as long as Astbury/grimes/Rance & Post are showing something, we'd be silly not to offload for a decent pick
