Summary

* Got to realise we're a young developing side and Hawthorn are a top 4 calibre side. So we're a fair way off them at this stage but the pleasing thing from Dimma's point of view was the last quarter when some things started to click. Got to realise under pressure conditions we haven't faced that thus far and in the first three quarters our guys really struggled to adapt to those. But to their credit I thought they fought out the last quarter and we only went down by a point in the second half. So from that point of view it was okay towards the end.

* We just literally couldn't get our hands on the ball. We were down by 100 possessions at halftime and that's the way it stayed. The quality of players of Mitchell, Sewell and Hodge, if you allow them first use of the ball you're going to struggle to keep up. There's a lesson learnt there. We've got to get better in that situation. We went down in clearances fairly easily on the night by about 13-14. We've just got to keep working hard. We've got five weeks to get our game up and going by round one.

* Message from tonight? Our guys inability to find the ball. You've got to realise when you've got guys like Deledio, Cotchin and Martin who haven't played a lot of footy against good quality sides like that when they going gets tough they've got to dig a bit deeper. The pleasing thing as Dimma said previously was the last quarter. Was reasonably pleased we came out and played well.

* Nason was have scans on Monday. Not too sure as to the extent of that one at this stage. And Thomson's got slight concussion so he'll be okay. Yeah it's always disappointing to lose some players. The Hawks lost some as well.

* Asked that fans will be weighing up that performance and whether it's worthwhile to buy memberships?
Dimma replied nothing has changed. We know exactly where we are at. We've got a plan for the future. We know where we are heading. It's going to take some time. Remember we are a club in transition and transformation. We've turned over 14 players, new coaching staff, we've got a new gameplan to learn. It's going to take some time. The great thing about it tonight although the result was really disappointing, we want to win every game, the last quarter we started to signs that our guys can play. The guys can take in some belief into next week that when we get our game up and running we can compete. Unfortunately we can't allow the lead to blow out to 100 points to get there.

* It always hard to come here (Aurora). There's always a tricky wind with goalkicking. The Hawks play the ground very well. Been many times here as coach but it doesn't make it any easier.

* Martin was a positive. He had 26 touches. His got some work defensively to do. He can find the ball very well. Defensively he's got some areas of his game he needs to address.

* Astbury was another we saw some very good signs. Key position players are hard to find. I think we saw tonight he can be a player of the future for us.

* Asked if Martin will play round 1?
Too early. Still 5 weeks to go. At this stage it's still very early. We've got guys like Nathan Foley and Dan Jackson to come back through the midfield. Martin has equiped himself reasonably well. He uses the ball well. Wins the hard ball. Just got to defensively work on a couple of things and fine tune for games going forward.

thats fine, but i don't want us to be 73 points down at half time because we can not handle the pressure.

yes, we have clearance problems!

spot on! got to dig deeper! Martin's first match, so he can be excused!

Nason out for 1 month is a good result.
