Who you gonna call? Gamebusters: The X-Men of the AFL

Jon Ralph
Herald Sun
March 15, 2010

They are the X-men. The wildcards. The gamebusters who inject the wow-factor. Or as Brian Taylor would say of his favourite, Leon Davis, the "wowee" factor.

Every side has one. It's just how often they bring that brilliance to the table.

Their coaches give them permission to try outlandish feats.

They get the glory when they make the improbable seem ordinary on a weekly basis.

And the best of all - they get cool nicknames.

Who do you think is the X-Men at your club?

RICHMOND

Jack Riewoldt

In a team crying out for goalkickers, the 21-year-old is something special, even if his physique (195cm, 93kg) and wonky kicking mean his growing pains have been more agonising than most. Has great hands, judgment and a turn of pace, but don't expect him to crash packs David Neitz-style.

I reckon he's right. When the ball is coming in quick (which has been rare the last few years) he's very dangerous. He is smart, and can kick a freak goal.

He is also the guy we can least afford to get injured.
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do

we had richo in te past and only richo

but now we have none

and we dont want one

we want a balanced team where everyone does there bit so we dont rely on ome or two

everyone has to do their bit and jack has the ability but goes missing far to often

the time is now for jack

ps  relton and taylor could become the one but from what i have been told, taylors head still isnt where it should be

As it stands right now, we don't have one gamebuster, that is someone who can and more importantly actually does, grab games by the scruff of the neck and shake poo out of them.

I hoping that will change soon.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yahweh? or the great Clawski?
