Richo and Hall tell Ablett: take the money STATHI PAXINOS
March 22, 2010 FORMER Richmond spearhead Matthew Richardson yesterday declared that Gary Ablett would be ''stupid'' if he didn't take the money supposedly on offer from the Gold Coast.
The Gold Coast Football Club, which will join the AFL competition next season, has been chasing the Brownlow medallist hard with a multi-million-dollar offer.
Richardson and Bulldogs spearhead Barry Hall, who moved to Sydney from St Kilda on a big pay packet a decade ago, said the money reportedly on offer from the Gold Coast would be too big for anyone to resist.
Richardson said if the Gold Coast offered at least $500,000 a year more than the Cats, Ablett had little choice but to leave Skilled Stadium.
''There's that big a difference in the offers I think anyone would reasonably assume he would have to take it,'' said Richardson on AFL Game Day. ''It would be stupid if he didn't, really, if it's that far apart like they're saying.''
Speaking on Herald Sun website superfooty.com.au, Akermanis said loyalty no longer existed in the AFL.
