Newman on SEN

Here's the audio of Newy on SEN earlier today.

Summary

* Relief more than adulation after the game.

* Impressed with how as a young side we handled the conditions. We were really confident when the heaven's opened up as we pride ourselves on being competitive. Just wanted to get the ball forward quickly.

* Internally Jack's been great on and off-field. Leadership and development been great. That power forward we've been looking for. Impressed with his progression and hope he can progress more as the season goes on.

* Nason has surprised all of us. A really good kid. Had injuries early on so went unnoticed but he stuck to his rehab and as soon as he got on the track he was sensational. Works really hard and presents really well. Front and squares is something we've lacked over the last couple of years so rapted for him.

* Confident Martin will stay. A ready-made kid. Bigger body and big bruising legs/quads and can work his way through contests that most players can't. He's ball use is also something we've lacked.

* Really good speech from KB before the game. Spoke about how it was similar conditions when he arrived at Richmond - down along time and a group of kids coming through together and success started from there. KB presented Griffiths with his guernsey.

* Griffs is a big body, presents well and is quick for his size. He competes well at ground level and a couple of occasions beat two Port players to hold the ball in. Work ethic is something that will hold himself in good sted. He can also take a big grab so looking forward to seeing him play in dry weather.

* Simmo - really good clubman and will be missed. Wears his heart on his sleeve and looking forward to sending him off on a good note.

* If Cousins can show this form there is no reason why he can't go on next year but it will be decided at the end of the year.

* 14th farewell for Richo this week (laughs). Should be a great night to reminisce with the big fella.
