The 'NEW' Tigers of old.
« on: July 06, 2010, 10:19:27 AM »
I like many have seen the rebuilds and promise over the years only to be continually bought back down with a THUD.
As many are starting to say, this time it really seems to be different! It is just those tangible untangibles if you get my drift. I have allways been a firm believer in the above the shoulders part of the game, taking into consideration you have the cattle in the first place.
This young group,'coaching staff' included have proved this point in the last 6 weeks, remember the comparisons and what 'they','Us'  were saying about us then.
I am a realist and there is a long road ahead with a few speed bumps to still get over, but I will take the mentality I took to the Swans game, and every game this year really! with me for the rest of the year, just looking for the improvement in the players and that X factor the 1%ers so to speak.
I have had too many let downs over the years to get to excited just yet, but just to finish off it really gives you that warm glowing feeling in the loins when opposition supporters you have known over the years, especially the sworn enemy kind just speak to you with real excitement and enthusiasm about how we are going, gives you real hope and enjoyment that maybe, just maybe this time. :pray

CUB I agree with you. It's a real "love-in" everywhere I go. Even on the Monash every  afternoon people see the Yellow & Black membership sticker on the back of the car and smile at you/thumbs up at you. Fellow tiger supporters toot the car horn. At work you can even join in the footy conversations with great confidence as co-workers ooh and arrh whenever I mention "Dimma"..."Dusty"..."Nason"...and then"Jack"...Happy days indeed  :cheers

Nothing wrong with getting excited...We witnessed a modern miracle on Sunday-Our team of young cubs came from 33 pts down against Sydney-"the Lock Down Kings".

Victory over the Dockers will have many of us optimists using those "ladder and finals perdictors"www.afl.com.au/bailey%20ladder%predictor/tabid/1306/default.aspx and working out all the permutations for September action.

Just really enjoying the ride ATM.....plenty of potential top 8 scalps ahead.

Have to say l was worried being so much down. What was more of my concern was that the players had to play sideways & backwards like in the past that started to haunt me. But thats the was Sydney force teams to play. All Sydneys forwards pushed back flooding & l'm totally shocked we managed to to score so well against that.

Wednesday morning just thinking about the win against a Sydney side makes me feel great. Even more so with 3 wins in a row & that ugly football gone from my mind with nearly 2 months of terrific football.  The feeling of looking at the paper & seeing one of your players on top of the goalkicking, has been many years l cant remember the last. What l see from that is we have improved by far. Things are really starting to come together & the goal kicking is being shared.

The Captain is playing like a captain should by being more damaging & we are covering defence. New players are doing thier part & whats a better feeling is that no-one is now a walk in to the top 22, because now its the top 32. That feels great knowing you got players who have to push harder.

So today l'm having the day off cause l feel that stress of being a Richmond supporter is leaving me
They have acheived far more than l thought in thier 1st year under Hardwick & his coaching staff

As l have always said in the past, l dont care what the result is at the end of the day. If what l'm watching is the highest level football & those young players are having go than l'm satisfied

& better news Ben Cousin just walked into the club looking great, & Hutchy chasing behind him  ;D

Yep, good post TM, totally agree.  Long way to go but these are different signs to the false dawns of the past 10+ years of rebuilds.
