VFL games to return to Punt Road Oval
« on: November 18, 2010, 01:35:17 AM »
The Age understands VFL games could return to Punt Road with the recently negotiated relocation of the Richmond Cricket Club. Both Richmond and St Kilda are understood to have negotiated agreements for VFL games to return to the traditional suburban home grounds.

The Saints' new Moorabbin deal with the Victorian government is expected to be announced today and The Age understands part of the Tigers' forward planning is to also play host to VFL and community football.

Interesting indeed as the VFL have been adamant for years now; No games at Punt Road

But the VFL via AFL Victoria are becoming a bigger toothless Tiger every day  ;D

I wonder what it all means? eg Could we be considering at going solo in the VFL?

Perhaps it was the co-tenancy with the cricket club that in part caused that attitude WP. With them moving out, the ground size increasing and more modern facilities the oval becomes so much more appealing.

If this is true it bodes well for the future.  :thumbsup.

I hope its true. It would be great if they scheduled games at Punt Road to correspond with out Matches at the G and have them as a type of curtain raiser. I used to love watching the ressies as a curtain raiser to the main game all those years ago.

Not to mention the nice little earner from gate reciepts and catering for not only our fans but all those opposition ones wanting to kill a bit of time if they arrive early at the G.

If the RFC are still aligned with Coburg the only ones doing any "earning" would be Coburg as it would their game  ;D

Stand alone VFL team and all the spoils would go to the RFC  ;D ;D
