Frawley out for three months

James Frawley has injured his pectoral muscle

Fri, Jan 21, 11 MELBOURNE defender James Frawley was hopeful his pectoral injury would not be too serious but scans have revealed he needs surgery and will miss the start of the season.

Frawley injured the pectoral muscle during training at AAMI Park on Thursday.

On Friday morning, Frawley reassured his fans via Twitter that the injury should not set him back too far, but those optimistic thoughts were soon dampened.

He will have surgery next week and Melbourne coach Dean Bailey told the club's website it was disappointing to have the All Australian sidelined. "This is obviously an unfortunate setback for James," Bailey said. "He is clearly an integral part of our team and he will be missed.

"However, we have full confidence that others around James will step up to fill the void in his absence."

Frawley had a breakout season last year and was named back-pocket in the All Australian team. He also played for Australia in the International Rules series and finished second to Brad Green in last year’s Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy.

He played 21 games in 2010 for a career total of 61 since debuting in 2007.

He was drafted by Melbourne from TAC Cup team North Ballarat with pick 12 in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft.

I havent seen this on here but if someonehad alrady posted it please combine it with the other.

I think this is really going to hurt Melbourne this year.  They really relied on Frawley as their main stopping defender and will have trouble filling that role.
Besides that he seems like a nice guy and wish him all the best in his recovery.
