Bands to rock Fridays at the G

THE AFL will introduce live music before the first four Friday night matches at the MCG this year.

Melbourne's Little Red will be the first band, playing before the Geelong-St Kilda clash on March 25.

The band's song Rock It came second in this year's Triple J's Hottest 100.

Little Red will play four songs on the Southern Stand stage used at the Grand Final.

"We've picked emerging and ascendant bands who can handle that stage and a crowd of up to 80,000 people," AFL general manager Andrew Catterall said yesterday.

Melbourne acts Paris Wells and Airbourne have been lined up for pre-match entertainment in April. A band for the Carlton-Collingwood game on April 8 will be announced.

"We want to promote Melbourne acts and build a connection between footy and music and hope that Live at the 'G' becomes an ongoing program each year," Mr Catterall said.

Will impact on our pre game festivities in Round four against the Pies.

I always thought the home teams pre game is exactly that belongs to the home team to do as they wish for members fans and sponsors. :-\

Paris Wells is an Australian soul/funk singer/songwriter based in Melbourne. She released her debut album, Keep It, in July of 2008, and has played at festivals such as Falls Festival, Big Day Out, Meredith and Sydney Music Festival. She has supported Justin Timberlake and Jamie Lidell.

Airbourne is an Australian hard rock band originating from Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia (now based in the US). A big part of Airbourne's growing success is the exposure they have gained in other media - most notably, video games. Another place Airbourne have gained exposure over the past year is in the WWE. The song "Diamond in the Rough" is constantly used during the NRL games on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons when transitioning to commercial breaks.

We need Skrillex to to a set in the clubrooms before we run out onto the ground.

I guarantee we'd kick the first 10 goals...
