Tivendale, White injured Brendan Casey

May 12, 2011 2:39PMTWO separate on-field incidents marred Round 3 of the Casey Cardinia league with Tooradin's David White and ROC's Greg Tivendale both rushed to hospital on Saturday.
... former Richmond wingman Tivendale began coughing up blood and had trouble breathing after ROC's win over Devon Meadows.
Tivendale received a hard knock in the second quarter of his match against Devon Meadows, but played out the remainder of the game. On Saturday night he experienced shortness of breath and coughed up blood. He went to hospital and was checked into the ICU as a precaution.
ROC president Sharon Temby said on Monday that Tivendale was in good spirits, although a discharge date had not been confirmed. Temby said some players in the league might be the target of opposition clubs, and that she hoped it was stamped out quickly.
"Everybody needs to realise these aren't just players, these are fathers and regular people with a life away from football and they should not have to go into a game worrying about being hassled." Temby said.
"Greg is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and to see him and other players targeted in an unfair manner is not in the spirit of football.
"All the players have their family and supporters watching, and they are affected most by what happens.
'At the end of the day their families want to be able to see their loved ones come off the field; a bit sore and sorry, but able to continue on with their lives."
