21 Feb, 2012 RICHMOND CEO Brendon Gale is optimistic the Tigers will be able to push into the top eight this year and break their 10-year finals drought.
The Tigers finished the 2011 home-and-away season in 12th position with eight wins, two and a half games outside the top eight.
“We’re really excited, it’s another big year for us and we’re really energised by the challenge and it’s a big challenge,” Gale said.
“It’s a very competitive business and there’s a whole bunch of clubs striving to push forward and make it to the finals.”
With a number of Richmond players improving at Punt Road, including vice-captain Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin and Jack Riewoldt, Gale said it was important the side built on a promising 2011.
“If we can continue to improve at the rate we have, it’s going to put us in the finals realm, but we’ve still got a lot of work to do,” he said.
