Riewoldt to keep playing away from goalsquare: Hardwick
« on: April 05, 2012, 01:21:19 PM »
SEN played a snippet from Dimma's media conference today and he reiterated he wants Jack to play further up the ground across high-forward as playing out of the goalsquare is easy for the opposition to defend against and would make us one-dimensional. We want a spread of goalkickers and to bring Miller and Vickery into the game and as forward targets as well.

Miller...:banghead he can't convert anything. Wish we had someone else who could play that position. Someone who could take a big contested mark and is a very good kick at goal. stuff we'd be looking a bit better then wouldn't we. Surely Ben Nason and Mitch Farmer could have been traded to get us one?

We really need Vickery to have a good game if we're going to be any chance. No point pinning our hopes on Miller because he's not going to do anything outstanding.

Agreed, Vickery needs to step up from last week and if he does then Miller can go back to being a member of the supporting cast rather than trying to play a leading roll, something he is just not good enough for.

We've got someone like that, hope Grif gets a decent run at it.

we need a decoy down at FF, griff is the great white hope...far too easy for the defensive press to smash JR8...why do you think Buddy is starting up the ground, makes a whole lot of sense :shh

Jack doesn't have the speed for the whole game to play a Buddy/Richo type role.

We need Griff to get out onto the park.

Here's the vision of Dimma's press conference today where he made the comment about Jack and our forward line ...

I think what he was really saying was that he wants our forwardline to be less predictable and there to be a greater spread of goal kickers. Moving Jack around makes us harder to plan against and spreading our forwards over the F50 means that it is harder for defenders to help each other.

Last week we were bombing it in from the center square enabling the Bluebagger defenders plenty of time to prepare with blocks, body pressure and to team up on our forwards. Jack was the only forward who looked dangerous with Vickery having an off game. This allowed Vickery's opponent to become Jack conscious too.

Really we need Vickery presenting close to goal and Miller marking further up the ground for Jack to have more freedom

We need a dangerous mid fwd like Martin is when he rests down there, between him, cotch and lids resting fwd we can have a better balanced fwd line. And ffs don't just bomb it, spot up the targets, last week was diabolical from our midfield
