Wallace's interview on Sports 927 yesterday morning* Happy with how we are going but we can't get ahead of ourselves. Have only beaten one top 5 side and beaten the sides we thought we had a chance against. Still got along way to go in the season and a couple of the teams below us are well credentialed finals sides.
* If you don't think you can reach the top 8 when you start out given half the teams in the comp can make it then you're kidding yourself.
* Not surprised with the success so far moreso the results (13 + 12 unanswered goals).
* Got to be brave enough to play to win and to risk you might occasionally get belted.
* In regards to throwing away goodish starts in recent previous seasons (Connolly article in the Age) - Nonsense to what we are doing now. What's one season got to do with another.
http://sport927.com.au/gateway/Daily_Audio/Sound%20Grabs/TW_090505.asxCogs' post-match interview on Sport 927* Great to be winning and repaying the supporters. Basically said we need to keep it going.
* You don't really get caught up in a run of goals as you can't drop your guard. Even when the score was 47-3 we still knew we hadn't finished Carlton as they have been a 4 quarter side this year.
* Big wrap for Meyer. Amazed how a 70kg kid can throw himself into contests and win frees. Said he's got under the radar with Lids and Tambo but deserves to be in the same light as them.
* Never seen Terry play but has been told he is most like Wallace in the way he played.
* Body is good. Doesn't think about his groin anymore.
* Wallace's said they just need to deal with being favourites. Got to be man enough to have the confidence and arrogance to turn up and beat anyone.
David King's post-match interview on Sport 927* Pattison, Morrison or Schulz a chance this week.
* Brian Royal and Gordon Casey had a lot to do with some of the crucial moves in the box against Carlton.
* In relation to kicking 13 and 12 consecutive goals. Always wary but as a assistant coach gives you confidence in the group that they can do that. Guys now have the confidence to play this sort of footy. They wouldn't have been able to do it the last year or two.
* Mainly involved with Training and sitting in on meetings. He gives his experience to the players in terms of playing - avoiding the pitfalls etc. Doesn't get involved with planning as Wallace, Royal and Gordon Casey have been in the caper for years. Said he's still learning from them but enjoying it.
* Interestingly King said he has always chased success not respect. Doesn't care if we're respected or not. If they don't respect us then basically watch out.
