The real test begins
« on: May 15, 2005, 12:40:03 AM »
Bar Poowood who we should slaughter today - The test of if we are a potential finalist begins Brisbane at the Gabba, Melbourne at the Dome (What is that anyway), then the eagles at the G.

We have been ok against the Lions over recent years (When was the last time we palyed them at the G  >:() This will be a big test for both sides (both have something to prove) and should be a cracker.

The Dee's are a good side and are just down ATM Neitz and Miller will be back for the game against us and if they lose to Carlscum in thier last game at Princess Park will be pumped another good test - Don't let current form fool you Dee's are a threat for the flag.

Then a game I am really keen for another side we play well against the Eagles at Home - No matter what the result of the 2 previous game's I think this will be our biggest test and truely believe we have the side to match up to them at OUR home.
How good would it be to be the first team to do the eagles this year.

Poowood aside 1 win out of these 3 will put us 7 - 4 at the 1/2 way mark or 2 wins which is quite possible 8 - 3 either of these results would have us in the hunt for the second 1/2 and would of been beyond my expectations at the start of the year.

But as I have said before a lot of the game is played above the shoulders and in this situation anything could happen. Dont get me wrong here by no means do I think we are even close to a top 4 side but to make the finals even if we go straight out would make me one very happy camper this year. Nothing beats playing in September and I can just about smell it. :thumbsup

By the way a mate has come down from Qld and I have got tickets for a few of us in the members -and he is a Poowood supporter and I am quite aware that a loss here will blow my fantasy away of which I have been duly reminded. we cant lose can we  :shh

Agree CUB. Big month coming up for us now although this year has been even so most games are winnable (and loseable for that matter). Lions, Dees, Roos and Crows are pretty much around our level IMO. The Dees would be the top of that list at full strength. They need Neitz in their side though. The Eagles are flying and are a top 4 side but they haven't played  in Melbourne yet where they've been found to go missing in the past year or two. At Subi we would get pumped but at the 'G it evens things up a bit.

Reckon nest week the Lions will try to keep things tight like the Pies did today as unlike the Pies they still have class players in their side that will punish us for skill errors and poor decision making under pressure. The doggies showed last week you need to get the ball free and run the Lions' aging players off their feet to beat them even up their at the Gabba.
