Brendon Gale named AFL Players’ Association CEO

Current AFLPA General Manager – Operations, Brendon Gale, has been named to replace Dr Rob Kerr as the AFL Players’ Associations’ new CEO.
A handover period will commence next week with Gale expected to assume the role in early December.
Gale, 36, joined the AFLPA in June of this year after working with one of Australia’s leading commercial law firms, Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
Gale also served as the AFLPA’s President for three years from 2000-2002 and played 244 games with the Tigers before retiring from football at the end of the 2001 season.
AFLPA President Peter Bell said, “Brendon’s legal and football background combined with his personal qualities make him an excellent choice to lead the AFLPA into 2005 and beyond. The AFLPA believes he will make an invaluable contribution.”
Gale’s involvement with the AFLPA goes back to 1991, when the ex-Tiger became an AFLPA delegate, then a member of the Association’s executive and AFLPA President in 2000-2002; before joining the Melbourne-based staff in 2004.
Brendon has also completed a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws at Monash University.
Gale said, “I am fortunate to take over a well managed organisation from Rob that enjoys a healthy, robust relationship with the AFL. I will continue to ensure that the player’s interests are represented in all the major issues.”
