AMID all the drama that is happening within the AFL at the moment at Essendon, St.Kilda’s Ahmed Saad and the demoralising season that Melbourne is have, everyone, except their own supporters, seem to be forgetting that it’s a fantastic time to be involved with the Richmond Football Club.

Not only is great for Richmond and their fans that the Tigers are back in September this season, but it is great for our game as a whole. Richmond has quite possibly the most passionate and loyal supporters in the competition and they have come out in their forces this season with a record membership.

There is plenty of Richmond fans that cannot even remember the last time they saw their beloved Tigers in finals action.

Can you imagine the build up to a Richmond final in just over a months time?

It could quite possibly be the biggest crowd outside of a Grand Final and the atmosphere within the MCG would be extraordinary to be apart of.

You have a look across the list at the Tigers and think of the list of players that deserve to be playing in a final series. The one that stands out the most  is former skipper Chris Newman. Newman’s elation and emotion after the final siren against Hawthorn last week shows just how much this means to him and the team.

You can throw in all the young kids as well like Brandon Ellis, Nick Vlastuin and even Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin are still relatively young and they will thrive of playing in such a big game that has massive consequences.

The reason Richmond find themselves where they are today is because they are winning games in 2013 that they are supposed to, whereas in previous years, it has been the games that they’ve lost to the Gold Coast and lower ranked sides that have costed them previous finals campaigns.

The big question is, can they win it? Richmond best is some of the most attractive style of football and their defensive game is improving by the week and ranked in the top three in the competition. If they manage to bring their best into September, there’s absolutely no reason why the Tigers can knock off the best in the competition.

Make sure, if you’re playing Richmond in the first week of the finals, Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton, Port Adelaide, Fremantle, Sydney, Geelong, Hawthorn fans, make sure you line up early, because the Tiger Army will be out in force to be at the ground to watch their Tigers run around in a final for the first time in 12 years.
