Richmond renews partnership with BLK
richmondfc.com.au  October 21, 2013 2:08 PM

The Richmond Football Club is proud to announce its partnership renewal with the WRS Group, specialists in elite performance apparel.

WRS Group’s apparel brand, BLK, will be the Club’s official apparel partner until at least the end of season 2017.

BLK will provide both Richmond’s AFL and VFL teams, administration and support staff, with cutting-edge apparel, producing the players’ full playing and training kits, including the Tigers’ guernsey, that each player proudly wears on game-day.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale confirmed the Club’s delight in renewing another valuable partnership, and claimed its significance would be felt as much off-field, as on-field.

“We’re delighted that BLK is continuing to partner with the Richmond Football Club to provide our players and staff their quality apparel, to help us achieve our best possible performance week in, week out,” Gale said.

“The sports apparel our players, coaches, staff, members and supporters wear helps to define us as a football club and makes us proudly Richmond. It’s a pleasure to have BLK continue to provide us with their quality apparel and share in helping our team to perform, as well as bring our identity alive.”

WRS Group CEO Tyron Brant said the company is thrilled to continue its relationship with a club that has such a rich history and strong standing within the AFL community, along with a promising future achieved through elite performance, both on and off the field.

Look out for Adidas to launch a takeover for WRS Group.

German Adidas to take over Australian Co. WRS?

Seriously?

Doubt it myself but stranger things have happened  ;D

Actually have to say I am not sure why the RFC has agreed to be the guinea pig for WRS getting its own brand BLK out in the AFL.

I know BLK is the Australian arm of WRS and that KooGa is actually an UK Company and WRS owns the KooGA license for Aust & Southern Asia. Also know that all BLK gear will look exactly the same as anything branded KooGa but just think as a brand name KooGa is more recognisable in Aust these with the Wallabies being decked out in KooGa.

BLK's biggest claim to fame internationally is they are the apparel sponsors of the NZ Rugby League team  ;D

Don't think it will make one iota of difference sales wise, people will still buy the stuff just think the brand name KooGa is more appealing than BLK

Hopefully the change will mean extra $$$ to the Club  ;D

KooGa Australia is now BLK I think.

Not quite, they are both party of the WRS stable

As I said above:

I know BLK is the Australian arm of WRS and that KooGa is actually an UK Company and WRS owns the KooGA license for Aust & Southern Asia. Also know that all BLK gear will look exactly the same as anything branded KooGa but just think as a brand name KooGa is more recognisable in Aust these with the Wallabies being decked out in KooGa.

WRS has the license to KooGa in Australia, BLK is another company within the group that's gear looks exactly the same as the KooGa stuff. There was talk about 12 months ago about some issue with the license but I am not sure exactly what it was about TBH

FWIW, the bulldogs have also just re-signed with WRS for the next 4 years but they will continue to be decked out in stuff branded KooGa, they haven't made the change

Would be interested to know why we've changed?

Maybe Mr RFC_O can explain  ;D
