Magical Moments: Richmond

Rohan Connolly and Dermott Brereton are putting together their top 10 moments from each club that has stood out across the last 30 years.

Last week it was Richmond and here is what the guys came up with...

1. Scott Turner’s fierce bump takes out Garry O’Donnell as Richmond comes from five goals down to beat Essendon in 1995 second semi-final.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzUfZpxEEAs

2. Richmond fans and greats rally around the 1990 Save Our Skins campaign which prevents club from going under. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10rMs4jS1T4

3. Rory Hilton’s late goal ensures victory for the Tigers in 2001 first semi-final against Carlton.

4. A goal to Ben Harrison in dying seconds sees Richmond beat Carlton at Princes Park in last Round of 1997, knocking the Blues out of the finals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1Z5uPVXj3A

5. A 10-goal haul to Jeff Hogg helps Richmond thrash reigning premier Collingwood by 57-points in the 1991’s “Mother’s Day Massacre”.

6. Michael Mitchell wins both Mark of the Year and Goal of the Year in 1990. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_jEIKU8_Ac http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Tm5XknOag

7. David Cloke kicks eight goals in his last game of AFL football in 1991 as the Tigers come from behind to upset Carlton at the MCG.

8. Michael Roach boots 11 goals as Richmond knocks off highly-fancied Hawthorn at Princes Park in 1985. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0yShCQxSYo

9. Richmond upsets Hawthorn by 41-points in round 19 of 2013 to officially book a finals spot for the first time in 12 years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL_PKADct2U

10. Much-loved Matthew Richardson boots a bag of 10 goals as Richmond beat the Western Bulldogs in 2004. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbF1gZd2Ljw

The response to this article should be interesting.

as Mayor Quimby's nephew said to the French waiter:-
"I'm going to enjoy this"
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

The kind of "supporters" who would actually applaud that embarassing list of mediocrity should be following St. Kilda and jerking off to a dvd of "The Streak"....

"Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good...."
