It was interesting to read
link that the Eagles after rebuilding their list over the past 4 years have 6 rookies in their senior squad of 25 this week. Two of which are Chad Fletcher and ruckman Dean Cox. Just goes to show the importance of using the rookie list in helping find good footballers who might not quite be ready at 17 or 18 years of age to select them in the November National draft.
Before Miller came along we only paid lip service IMO to using the rookie list properly with Tivs being the only rookie to come through in something like 6 years. That was disgraceful compared to other clubs. Although we were contrained financially from taking on more rookies hopefully Thursfield, Moore and Foley continue to develop and improve (barring injury) and with our finances in better shape next year hopefully we can take on one or two more rookies in 2006 and make full use of the rookie system.
