See what your club is doing right or wrong and who the big improver is.
RICHMONDTHE GOODAlthough they haven’t won many games, in the last five games the Tigers have improved their ability to transition the ball. In the opening eight rounds they ranked 15th at getting the ball inside 50 from a defensive 50 chain and 15th at scoring. In the last five games those rankings are No.1 and second.
THE BADThe two strengths of the club in 2013 was the contested ball and scoring from clearances. This year the contested possession differential ranking has fallen from third to 12th and the scores from clearances differential from No.1 to 10th. While they have turned the footy over the ninth most behind centre, they have conceded the fourth most points from this source.
GAME STYLEUsing handball a lot more in 2014 compared to last year. Ranked second for kick-to-handball ratio last year and this year 16th. Behind centre using handball the second most and the corridor the third most in the competition.
THE IMPROVERDavid Astbury until going down with injury was a shining light in defence for the Tigers. In the first seven rounds he conceded just 12 goals and ranked No.1 in spoils at the club and fourth for intercept possessions.
