Think Newman has a few " points in the bank " don't you think

Would think that if you are coming back after 6 weeks out then you come back through the VFL. "Points in the bank" are irrelevant IMO. If it's good enough for Chris Judd to come back via the VFL then I thin it's good enough for Newman.

And BTW coming straight back worked a treat didn't it because IIRC he missed the next week through injury

Sorry Jack, but facts are certain players don't earn games at the RFC they are gifted them no matter what - we all know that. If this wasn't the case then we would have seen a few more of the blokes who are constantly in the best at VFL level play in the AFL side rather than having the same old same old under performers at AFL level each week

Which is exactly why we're a poohouse club

And why he plays on next year and Dom Cassisi, Darren Glass,Big Coxy, Lenny Hayes and Jono Brown to name a few who put their clubs development ahead of justifying another year of ordinary football under the guise of "leadership" of the young players (who are primarily in the 2's anyway)
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

The Barometer - Round 19
Herald-Sun
29 July 2014

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: Ty Vickery will need replacing after the tribunal hands down its verdict and Jake Batchelor continues to hang around the edge of the best 22, finishing Friday night’s game with just three disposals. Sam Lloyd was subbed out with seven touches at 29 per cent effectiveness but the conditions weren’t exactly pristine.

ON THE CUSP: Richmond’s VFL team went down to top side Port Melbourne with Shaun Grigg the standout in his return from injury — 30 disposals, nine clearances, eight tackles and a goal is a fair day’s work. Ben Lennon (27 disposals) impressed again and the battle to replace Vickery comes down to Liam McBean or Ben Griffiths. After nine goals in the previous two games, McBean was relatively quiet, snagging two in difficult conditions. Griffiths may have his nose in front after a 10-mark game.

AL PATON’S FORECAST: The margins in the past two meetings between these sides has been 119 and 113 points in Richmond’s favour so the Tigers will go into Saturday’s clash against GWS with a fair degree of confidence. Their Round 10 meeting this year was the turning point in the Giants’ season and they should be much more competitive this time, but with key players including Jeremy Cameron and Lachie Whitfield sent for season-ending surgery Leon Cameron is planning for 2016 while Damien Hardwick is desperate to make every match count in a disappointing year. A fifth-straight win will at least keep the mathematicians in business for another week.

I dont want to see Hampson in our team again nothing but lazy،no heart،and doent put his body in for a guy 200 cm plus.He was awfull at vfl.Either Griffths or the Big O who had a good game.Big O atleast gives you 100 percent effort and works his backside when he plays.

In the mix: round 19

RICHMOND
Midfielder Shaun Grigg made an impressive return from a hamstring injury in the VFL and would be in line to face Greater Western Sydney at the MCG on Saturday. With 30 possessions, nine clearances and eight tackles, Grigg made a strong case that he is fit enough to step back in at AFL level after six weeks on the sidelines. Ricky Petterd could also return after a one-week finger injury interrupted his strong run of form. The Tigers will need to replace tall forward Ty Vickery, with Ben Griffiths and Liam McBean two options. Griffiths took 10 marks and kicked one goal in the VFL while McBean, who is yet to debut and was a senior emergency in round 18, booted two. Ben Lennon had 27 possessions and five inside 50s to keep himself in the mix.

Ins:  McBean for Vickery & Lennon for Morris.  Not exactly like for like with Lennon, but its a good chance to play some kids.     :gotigers

Had a nightmare that Grigg and Hamspud are the two changes, I really hope that doesn't happen.
