I got to hand it to FJ for sticking his neck out considering he's failed time & time again especially after 1st round.
Those days of highlights videos plopped into FJ's old VHS are well and truly gone.
With all the millions poured into this department, all the latest tech and up to the minute stats it's good to see our money making them all feel relevent and special.

I'm not expecting much from anything after 1st round because history tells us that they are useless at this caper especially after the 1st round pick. (And I'm not even going to mention Sideshow Bob)

don't be a blithering idiot, we have plenty of 2/3 r selections on the fringes , coz they cant break into the side, the likes of Dea Batch astbury griff and so on would have played 100 games ea at many other clubs. are you gonna pick apart Haw recruiting coz the likes of O Halloran and woodward haven't played enough games in first three years    ...genius

You want me to compare our recruiting to Hawthorn's?
I think our recruiting has been ordinary and that includes some 1st round picks too.
FJ has too many misses and not enough wins.
But keep on believing BJ hopefully one day they'll get it right.

Ordinary my eye, we've built a very good list under difficult circumstances with gc and gws dominatiing early picks when dimma took the reigns , we have a veritable warehouse of talent now , great recruiting

great video concept but at no stage do we find out "this guy" is (only see Duggan on the screen)..... it'd be great to know who else they were pondering for pick x.

One of the recruiters says "Liam" so they are referring to Duggan.

It seems Blair rated both Ellis and Duggan around the same mark (700) but FJ only rated Duggan at 625 and favoured Ellis as having more elite traits. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter as Duggan was gone already by our pick so we didn't have to choose between the two. It is also seemed from the clip that we were happy Geelong went for Cockatoo.

Interesting to know, the two players Blair rated below both Ellis and Duggan? I'm guessing one might be Weller (?).

Menadue seems to have been pushed heavily by Blair. Convinced Dimma that Menadue would become a star but it would take at least 3 years.

Thought it was great footage. Enjoyed seeing just how serious they take it and loved how excited they were getting when the big fella was going to slip through. Great vision, keep it coming.

Apparently they walked out of 2008 very happy and we didn't get a single pick right except maybe for Cousins (IMO)

they were over the moon in 05 even promoted fj to a full time position on the back of it. come on down jon hughsy and casserly.

ah bj and others so so good at defending mediocrity.
you know wallace got 5 yrs copped all sorts of critiques, hardwick has had 5 yrs and achieved very little and is copping critiques.
the man most responsible for their plights is francis jackson.

10 whole yrs. yet to win a final. chronic shortages in the list still,  with 7th the best we have done.  this is what jackson has delivered to us it isnt good enough.

Yep, his record is what it is.  It should also be noted that in FJ's time 4 new clubs have been added to the AFL, 2 of them in the last 3 years.  The leagues expansion has taken the top end off the draft nearly every other year.  Then throw in some quality tanking from several clubs & its no wonder it has been hard to nail an early pick for the last decade.  Don't bother regurgitating & rehashing the misses again, instead look at the list of players who were off limits to us during that ten year period, then have a look at some of the Melbourne & Carlton pick 1's.  When he had some top picks FJ has snared us players like Dusty & Lids ... not too bad!  If we had tanked as hard as some other clubs have imagine the list of the players FJ could've assembled, his name would be up in lights by now!  Why not spend some time compiling that list of players we couldn't draft instead of spending time constantly moaning about the ones we did?

You are responding to an incorrect post claw. Blair made the comment at the end of the video. He was at Port in 2008, not Richmond!
