THE ability to win the ball back has never been so important in the AFL.

Players who can intercept the ball and then launch the counter-attack are becoming valuable assets in the modern-day gamestyle.

RICHMOND - ALEX RANCE

Bachar Houli’s left foot might get more attention but Rance is a clear leader when it comes to winning the ball back for Richmond and launching counter attacks. Rance leads the Tigers in intercept possessions (71) and marks (23) both ahead of Houli. Houli leads the way in rebound 50s while Rance has more one percenters.
