Matthew Richardson, the idol of a generation of Richmond supporters, will be inducted into the Club’s Hall of Fame at the gala Homecoming event to be held on Saturday, July 11 at the Plenary, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Matthew Richardson will be one of four new inductees into the Tigers’ Hall of Fame at the Homecoming function.

Another major highlight of the evening will be the elevation of a current Hall of Fame member to ‘Immortal’ status – the highest individual honor at Richmond.

Currently there are five Tiger Immortals – Jack Dyer, Tommy Hafey, Kevin Bartlett, Francis Bourke and Royce Hart.

Homecoming is the biggest event Richmond has ever staged, where it will pay tribute to the mighty history of one of the most powerful clubs in the competition.

Every former player has been invited to attend the event, and entertainment for the evening includes Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Sam Ludeman Band.

Tickets for the ‘Gold’ dinner have already sold out, however ‘Silver’ dinner tickets are still available.

Tickets for the exclusive pre-event Homecoming Cocktail Party have also been released, which includes an autograph session with current and former Richmond players.

For more information, visit the Homecoming tickets page.

Matthew Richardson to be inducted into Richmond’s Hall of Fame

RICHMOND champion Matthew Richardson says he feels humbled to be one of four new inductees into the club’s Hall of Fame.

Richardson, who kicked 800 goals in 282 games, will join the exclusive club on July 11.

His late father, Alan “Bull” Richardson, played 103 games for the Tigers and was part of the 1967 premiership team.

“Being a Richmond supporter before I played there, I’m very much aware of the history of the club and all of the great players,’’ Richardson said.

“So I guess to get into a group such as this, it’s a big honour and I am very humbled by it.

“You play footy obviously to play in premierships and that sort of stuff never happened for me so obviously you have a little bit of a sense of disappointment there.

“But something like this comes along after you finish playing, it’s a nice recognition for the time you put in.’’
