Hyde - 50 R3

Gotta say I was surprised to read that - I thought he'd played more by now. How many years has he been with us 4-5 years?

Not being critcial just curious :thumbsup

IIRC Hyde only played something like 7 games in his first 3 years at the club, i remember seeing him play off a HBF in late 2002? and was saying to myself "Why the stuff isn't he played in the midfield, the kids got game" and the next week he was dropped!  :banghead

Good to see he has come on!  :thumbsup

Hyde was drafted with pick 41 in 2000. Then delisted and redrafted with pick 68 the following year. So he's been on our list for 6 years and he's now 23 y.o. Debuted in R14, 2002 vs Carlton.

2002: 2
2003: 6
2004: 22
2005: 17
--------------
Total: 47 games

Compared to his peers of 2000 - Newman (76 games), Krakouer (76), Cogs (71) and Pettifer (59). Peers of 2001 - Rodan (60).

And just how many of Krakeour and Rodans games were undeserved?

Should i say the magic (and dangerous) word, political correctness?  :o

I was one game off on Hydey's first 3 years!  :cheers

IMO more due a poor side with zero pressure on positions coming from the VFL below. I don't think Pettifer getting games before this year was due to PC and he was arguably just as "deserving" if not less so than Krakouer or Rodan. The real reason was due to DC and PR - dumb coach and pathetic recruiting  ;).

Nice way to kill any sort of controversy!  ;)

As far as Pettifer goes, he got PC-related games because his a soft white boy!  :D
