Francis Jackson's post-draft interview on SEN
« on: November 24, 2015, 09:38:46 PM »
Francis Jackson was just interviewed after the draft on SEN:

* We've added genuine pace to our list this year.

* Rioli - KB not the only one excited. It's really exciting to have the Rioli name back at Richmond and Daniel is excited to be at Richmond. Small forward who is elite athletically - speed & endurance with evasive skills, lateral movements and he's a goalkicker. We went best availabe and it fills a need as well.

* Markov - played 2 senior games for North Adelaide. Super athlete. Quick. Elite mark.

* Broad - feather in Nathan's cap persisting and reaching his AFL dream. Played 20 WAFL Games giving defensive rebound. 192cm and has genuine speed.

* We'll use 3 picks in the rookie draft to add to our list.

So in other words. Add this draft to the trade period and FA and we have been the most boring club in the comp for another year. We have hinged all out betts on the Rioli name...

Markov's elite marking must be in the final 4 minutes of his highlights because it wasn't in the first 4 minutes I watched.

Don't mean to rag on the kid but I wish this C'head (FJ) would just tell us the facts.
Nights like tonight define a footy club and I'm just flat at the thought of another wasted draft.

Would have used Garlett instead of Betts after all hedging is hedging.

It is funny we couldnt even give Garlett  an interview, a bloke who would have cost peanuts in terms of picks. yet 12 months later we are using pick 15 on a sml fwd to address a need.Ah the list management always missing the bus.

I am happy to wait and see and judge our trade and draft period after a period of time.

We have added extreme speed - Yarran, Rioli, Markov and to a lesser extent Broad.

We have added bigger inside bodies in Moore and Townsend.

Not that bad on the surface IMHO.

I hope we rookie a ruckman like Darcy Cameron or even Gach Nyuon.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

The club too a risk and how successful this draft will be won't be known until 3-5 years from now. However, at least the club to seems to have finally recognised we've gone from one of the quickest sides 3 years ago to one of the slowest and predictable (i.e. regarding our transition and poor entries into our forward line) and added some genuine ground level foot-speed and freakish abilities to our list. Now, if only, they recognised we still needed another genuine ruckman.
