I haven't seen any school footy for a few years but use to keep an eye on the APS and agree Razor very overrated although a few have made successful footy careers in the AFL. The Pickering brothers from the 80's and Lion Chris Scott went to Skevs.

Better off sticking to the TAC cup to find the best junior talent.

I understand a while back we were showing much interest in Matthew Long.

From what ive heard MT 10-15 years ago it was a decent standard compared to the TAC cup and such.

IIRC Crawford was a schoolboy pick!

Now it is (mostly) full of players who aren't good enough for TAC, their are a fair few players who play both but most of them are hardly stars.

(Yes Ellis played school footy but he was a star at TAC cup level anyway!)

Not at our school 15 years ago it wasn't lol. Our firsts were so bad one year (10-20 goal thrashings were the norm) that the school brought in a rule that any laughter while the footy captain read out the results at assembly would result in detention. And no I'm not joking! It was bloody hard not laugh mind you when the score was 1.2 to 22.12.

Crawford came from Assumption which has typically been a footy school allocated to the Hawthorn zone from memory while the VFL gave us the crappiest zones ::). He barracked for the Tiges too as a kid  :-\.

Anyone have any info on Andy McGuinness

From the article in the Age about allowing 19-year olds into the TAC:

Sandringham is one TAC club that has applauded the move, club chief Wayne Oswald confirming the team had already earmarked two over-age footballers to remain in the team next season: Brighton Grammar students Jake Muir and Andrew McGuiness.

McGuiness, a midfielder, captained his school in football and cricket this year but performed poorly at the draft endurance tests and has been invited back to Sandringham after making the decision to concentrate on football.

School boys are a bit too young for me.
