Ben Cousins returns to Richmond

More than five years after ending his brief foray at the club, Ben Cousins has returned to Richmond.

The 2005 Brownlow medallist was back at Punt Road on Wednesday, looking fit and healthy, as evidenced by the snap Tigers chief executive Brendon Gale tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

"Great to have Cuz drop into @Richmond_FC today. His insights on footy and performance are as sharp as ever," Gale wrote.

Cousins, 37, played 32 games in two seasons with Richmond, who recruited him at the end of 2008.

The Tigers had gambled on Cousins, who was banned from the AFL for 12 months by the league's commission following a string of unsavoury incidents towards the end of his 12-year stint at West Coast, a club at which he was captain and won a premiership. Cousins appeared 238 times for the Eagles.

The former champion midfielder has battled drug addiction and was earlier this year fined for trespass and damage in Perth.

FORMER AFL star Ben Cousins is the latest name linked to reality television.

Cousins, who has struggled with drug addiction and was this year disqualified from driving over a low-speed pursuit in Perth, was today linked by entertainment reporter Peter Ford to Channel 10’s I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!, which will be filmed in South Africa early next year.

“Could it be that he’s going into the jungle? The word is, he’s got the offer on the table and is looking at it,” Ford claimed on 3AW.

A Channel 10 spokesman could not confirm the rumour this morning, saying even staff working on the show aren’t privy to its cast until January.

“We’re waiting with bated breath like everybody else,” he said.

A fit and healthy-looking Cousins - who played 32 games for Richmond after being drafted from West Coast, where he led the team to a premiership - was at the Tigers’ base on Punt Road yesterday, posing for a picture with club chief executive Brendon Gale.
