Richmond supporter’s outrageous talkback radio call after Geelong’s come from behind victorySarah Olle
FOX SPORTS
August 16, 2016TALKBACK radio.
The platform where every punter becomes an expert.
Or, in this case, where one particularly passionate punter became a headline.
The Tigers had capitulated to Geelong and this supporter — who went only by the name of Mick — was at breaking point.
“Bloody hell,” he told 3AW.
“I’m a Richmond supporter and thank goodness I threw my bloody membership ticket in the bin six weeks ago. What a pack of bloody useless so and sos.
“Fair dinkum, no wonder a man drinks.”
Richmond conceded a 35-point lead at the last break, as Geelong kicked six goals to storm home in the final quarter.
For Jack Riewoldt in his 200th match, it was particularly heartbreaking.
But Mick wasn’t in the mood for sympathy. Instead, he offered the coach some words of wisdom.
“I’ve got some advice for Damien Hardwick,” he said.
“Put bloody Peggy O’Neal at full forward, you might win a bloody game.”
We hope Mick didn’t drown his sorrows.
