Hardwick admitted he had no choice but to change as a person and as a coach because the pressure was affecting him and the club.
“I probably found out in a nutshell I was probably the worst thing for us at that stage,” Hardwick said at the Shadforth AFL Coaches Association Awards.
“I spoke to a lot of people, opened myself up to the playing group and we learnt a lot from each other.
“I had no choice ... We were getting smashed.
“The first thing ... is look at your own performance and if you are really honest and upfront, and Mrs Hardwick certainly had input as well. (She said), ‘You’re not the man I married’. I wasn’t the happy-go-lucky bloke.
“It was not what I wanted to be. It reflected poorly on me and my players — and I had to embrace the vulnerability of being who I am.”

Too stubborn and pigheaded to see that his "blueprint to success" was outdated, stupid as well as being known for being the softest limpwristed and mentally weak team in the history of the game.
The biggest accolades must go to the mastermind that was able to convince the club to let the players play to their strengths (as many on here have been saying for years) and also changing to a gameplan that can win us finals footy.
Tommy would be proud of the boys to but scratching his head as to why it's taken so long to play simple, efficient and effective footy that got us so much success during his coaching tenure.
