Collingwood youngster Jordan De Goey has lost his licence for six months after being caught drink driving, with Magpies leaders set to meet on Monday to determine a further course of action.

De Goey recorded a blood/alcohol reading of 0.095 in Port Melbourne on Saturday night. He notified the club following the reading.

The talented midfielder was suspended by the club last year for lying about how he broke his hand, claiming the injury happened while playing with his dog, when in fact occurred in a bar fight.

Collingwood's official statement:

Collingwood's Jordan De Goey has notified the club that he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.095 per cent after a random breath test in Port Melbourne on Saturday night.

His driver licence was immediately suspended and he has been disqualified from obtaining a licence for the next six months.

Club officials will meet on Monday to determine how this matter will be addressed.

The club will make no further comment on this matter until a decision has been made.

Collingwood culture = just 2 flags in the past 60 years  ;D.

Seriously though, aside from the fact De Goey is fortunate he didn't injure or kill another road user,

1. He previously lied to his Club about his broken hand.
2. Came back unfit for this preseason (according to teammate Tyson Goldsack).
3. Now caught drink driving.

If the Pies were serious they would sack him. 3 strikes you're out! But with Eddie & Buckley under so much pressure to turn things around onfield, I won't hold my breath. They would've been counting on De Goey being a key player for them this year.

Meh, the kids a jet, rules don't apply to those who might be superstars.

We all know that.

If they sacked him, I'd go after him....

True and all clubs have been guilty of that. However, he has no chance of even getting close to becoming a superstar if he's come back unfit as reported, let alone his off-field stupidity.

Magpies president Eddie McGuire says De Goey's drink-driving offence amounts to "unacceptable behaviour".

However, he cautioned against overreaction after the incident.

"That's unacceptable behaviour by anybody," McGuire told Triple M on Monday morning.

"You've got to be careful with these things not to overreact, but at the same time get the right result for society, for our club, for everybody associated (with it) and for Jordan."

McGuire conceded De Goey's pattern of indiscretions was concerning, but was hopeful he could turn things around.

"Clearly you do (have concerns). It's like when your kid comes home and they've done something and you go, 'Hang on, what's going on?'. So we'll talk to him," McGuire said.

"Look, Jordie's got a great family and we hope he gets himself right and gets the absolute potential out of his career."

They really went whack!

It will be interesting to see what the "indefinite" suspension actual ends up being. Will there be a sudden forgiveness if the Pies are struggling early on in the season and Buckley is under the pump? Only De Goey's footy potential saved him from the sack. Dougey was right.

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire says Jordan De Goey will make an 'early return' from his ban for drink driving.

And less than 24 hours latter ...

Jordan De Goey has done a hamstring. Wouldn't be available for round one even if Pies wanted him to play.
