1. Richmond
Last year (after home and away season): 15-7, third
Average ranking (of our voters’ ballots): 1.67
THE reigning premiers have the respect of our voters, receiving first-place votes from half of the panel and being in everyone’s top three. The easy comparison to make with the Tigers, as they look to defend their flag, is with last year’s Western Bulldogs. But while both teams had the best months of their lives to end up premiers, Richmond had the track-record of finishing in the top four after the home and away season. They also have the MCG, an in-built advantage that the Doggies never had last season. They should ease into the season against the Blues, against whom the Tigers unveiled their ability to post a big score last year.
