Clubs monitoring out-of-favour Tigers midfielderBy Alex Zaia

26 July 2018Former AFL list manager Chris Pelchen says there are two clubs who are looking at recruiting out-of-favour Richmond midfielder Anthony Miles.
Miles signed a one-year contract extension late last year despite being starved of opportunities over the last couple of seasons and missing out on the club’s drought-breaking premiership last year.
The 26-year-old has played just the one senior game this season despite dominant VFL form and Pelchen believes if he does decide to leave the Tigers, he won't have a shortage of suitors.
“He’s currency in a public sense has probably gone down because people haven’t seen exposure over the last 18 months – he’s been limited of senior opportunities because Richmond are going so well,” he told SEN Afternoons.
“He’s form at the lower level has been really good, it’s been really solid. He hasn’t done a lot wrong, it’s just been a lack of opportunity.
“In the public domain he’s probably not talked about in elevated status, but privately amongst the clubs, I’m sure they’re looking at him.
“I know of a couple of clubs that are looking at Anthony closely. He’s a contested beast, he’s an in-and-under player and he’s 26 years old.
“I think he merits some conversation, I think he certainly needs an opportunity at another club. I don’t think he’s going to get it at Richmond and it would be worthwhile for him if he moved.”
The former GWS midfielder was dropped after his solitary AFL appearance for the reigning premiers after collecting 20 disposals and booting a goal against Port Adelaide in Round 12 when replacing the injured Dustin Martin.
