Rate a Player - Robert Powell
« on: March 27, 2006, 08:04:12 PM »
Robbie started working at my work today as a full time casual. Had a bit of a chat to him today about a couple of things but didnt want to nag the crap out of him about footy on his first day.

What are people's thoughts?

Sorry MT, i couldnt find any of the stats etc that you normally post with these threads. (Feel free to add to the stats MT)  ;)

full time casual
Did you mean that Bully? A Freudian slip if you didn't, given the IR laws enacted today.  :-X

Robbie did well seeing he played in some ordinary sides.

Yeah FF, he did start today as a casual but he will be working full time. Nothing to do with the new IR laws that have come in. Just a stupid CEO who wont approve a new position but will allow us to increase our budget so we can emply a casual to do the same job.

LOL @ fulltime casual. That was what he was for us at times. I've never seen a player get run down from behind from any club more than Robbie Powell.

One of those typical small Richmond cameo players of the late 90's that we held onto for far too long when we should have put the broom through the list. The only year he was a semi-regular was in 98 yet he spent 5 years at Punt Road  :-\.

had great pace.

kicked 6 points on debut,

had good intensity,

should have played more games

had a tat on his ankle NHFC Noth Heidelberg football club

left the tigers for money to go to the aints.

eventually injuries killed his career.

In summary I liked his style and with the right coaching was probably more talented than Chris Naish, but did not have his work ethic

Was actually 5 points Blaisee.

I was talking to him yesterday about his debut.

He was telling me that he was going ok in the 2's and had just kicked 2 goals in 5 minutes in the second qtr.

Next thing the runner was telling him to come off the ground, he told him to get stuffed and he was going ok.

The runner told him to look over at the race at Punt Road and Robert Walls was waving him off.

He thought he had done something wrong and was pooting himself.

Ended up playing 5 and a half qtrs that day.

At his best he was a very handy crumbing forward, but as stated earlier i dont think he had the right work ethic.
