Tom Lynch arrival won’t disrupt forward line dynamic: GaleBy SEN
2 November 2018Richmond CEO Brendon Gale is confident the arrival of Tom Lynch won’t disrupt the dynamic of the Tigers’ forward line set-up.
Last season’s minor premiers were the second-highest scoring team in the competition while boasting the biggest percentage, ahead of Victorian rivals Melbourne and Geelong.
Speaking on SEN’s KB and The Doc, Gale says the mechanics of their ball movement won’t change following the addition of Lynch, and the manic forward line pressure will continue to be a hallmark heading into 2019.
“Not really,” Gale replied when asked if the ball movement will have to be altered to accommodate Lynch.
“The players who have been playing that role have been Jacob Townsend or Josh Caddy, and we have asked a lot of them.
“They’ve been our second tall and they’ve just competed tooth and nail, so Tom Lynch is effectively our second tall.
"It gives Caddy the flexibility to play more in the midfield, but I think the speed at ground level with Daniel Rioli, Jason Castagna, Dan Butler is still going to be a feature."
