GREATER Western Sydney has rebounded from a disappointing round two loss to easily dispose of Richmond by 49 points in an entertaining and sometimes spiteful clash at Giants Stadium on Saturday.

Led by tall forwards Jeremy Cameron (seven goals) and Jeremy Finlayson (five), the prolific Lachie Whitfield and tagger Matt de Boer, the Giants set up the win with six goals to two in the second term.

The home side then piled on six goals to one in the final quarter to hand the disappointing Tigers their second defeat of the season.

Richmond had few winners through the midfield with Brownlow medallist Dustin Martin well held by de Boer, and the superstar is likely to face the scrutiny of the Match Review Officer following a behind the play incident in the first half.

Martin finished the loss with just 15 possessions and let his frustrations boil over on multiple occasions.

Big forward Tom Lynch booted four goals in an encouraging performance, while Daniel Rioli (three), Kane Lambert (34 possessions) and Dion Prestia (33) were other Tigers to stand up.

Whitfield starred with 41 disposals, 12 marks and eight inside 50s playing all over the ground, while the unlikely partnership of Cameron and Finlayson inside 50 came at a perfect time for the home side, with star forward Toby Greene (calf) missing.

Cameron kicked the opening goal of the match and had two in the opening term, but a pair of majors from Rioli and one for debutant Sydney Stack, who looked composed playing in defence, gave the visitors a nine-point advantage at quarter-time.

The Tigers held their slight lead until Brent Daniels was awarded a free kick directly in front of goal, after Martin appeared to elbow a GWS player a long way off the ball behind play.

With Richmond ahead by seven points Daniels kicked the goal, and it was the first of four in a row to the Giants, as they eventually went to half-time with a 15-point buffer, when Finlayson banged one home after the siren.

The third term was a high-scoring affair with nine goals kicked, but while the Tigers booted two of the first three, they couldn't close the gap and trailed by 21 points at the last change.

Cameron (three goals) and Finlayson (two) then took full advantage of a dominant final term as the hard-running Giants proved too hard and too skilful for the visitors, who could have Martin on the sidelines along with injured stars Alex Rance (knee) and Jack Riewoldt (wrist) for next week's trip to Adelaide to take on the Power.

MEDICAL ROOM
Giants: Tommy Sheridan's GWS debut didn't last long after the midfielder pinged his left calf early in the game, while Jeremy Cameron appeared to hurt his right shoulder in the first term but managed to play out the match.

Richmond: Jayden Short dislocated his right elbow in the opening term and played no further part in the match. Daniel Rioli appeared to injure his ribs in the second quarter, but managed to play out the match.

Seven-goal Jeremy Cameron guides Giants to big win over Richmond

A dominant display from Jeremy Cameron has steered Greater Western Sydney to a thumping 49-point win over Richmond, whose injury despair deepened at Giants Stadium on Saturday.

Cameron kicked seven goals and looked unstoppable at times, relishing the sort of open space the Tigers rarely provide inside 50. They're lucky he didn't score a few more.

One of the key subplots for this match was how Richmond's defence would cope without the injured Alex Rance, Bachar Houli and the suspended Dylan Grimes. The answer: not well. And in the opening term, Jayden Short joined that casualty list in rather gruesome fashion.

Diving low in an attempt to thump forward a loose ball, Short landed awkwardly on his right arm and dislocated his elbow. Even the AFL's official Twitter account saw fit to warn the squeamish before they clicked on the replay.

With so many key backmen incapacitated, those who were left behind battled manfully to contain Cameron's Giants before they were eventually overwhelmed.

The hosts prevailed 19.11 (125) to 10.16 (76), bouncing back from their heavy defeat to premiers West Coast last week to go 2-1 after three rounds, while the Tigers slumped to the inverse in front of 12,697 fans. Trent Cotchin also finished the game on the bench in a worrying sign for coach Damien Hardwick.

Cameron was the undoubted star of the show, shooting straight to the top of the Coleman Medal leaderboard. He caught fire early – in a busy first quarter he bagged two goals, hit the post twice, had another around-the-body kick from distance touched off the boot and nearly brought down a screamer of a mark from Nathan Broad's shoulders.

He finished with 30 disposals and seven marks inside 50, doing it all in obvious discomfort after taking an early hit to his right shoulder. The other Jeremy – Finlayson – was moved forward and chipped in with a five-goal haul of his own. Before Saturday, he had kicked four goals in his entire career.

Richmond didn't feel the absence of Jack Riewoldt quite as much, mostly because prized recruit Tom Lynch stepped up. Lynch kicked four goals – although he did drop a sitter in the final term – while Daniel Rioli had three, and did well to recover from a crunching collision with Phil Davis in the second quarter. Debutant Sydney Stack was also a handy contributor.

But there were serious concerns elsewhere. The Tigers led by eight points at the first change and looked good in patches, but struggled to put more than 15 good minutes of football together. The pressure they usually pride themselves on was not there, and GWS slowly assumed control of proceedings, with Lachie Whitfield (41 touches, a career-high) running riot all over the field.

Dustin Martin was restricted to just 15 disposals, his personal frustrations boiling over on a few occasions – most notably when he sprayed a GWS opponent, giving him the middle finger and appearing to simulate snorting. He may also come under match review scrutiny for an off-the-ball elbow. It was a dirty day all round for Dusty.

Perhaps the only sour point for the Giants was Tommy Sheridan. Playing his first game for the club, the ex-Fremantle Docker had just one handball before he succumbed to a calf strain. It meant both teams were down a man for the majority of the match, but one handled it much better than the other.
