Recent record against the Saints - can we turn it around?
« on: April 06, 2006, 02:35:44 AM »
Our recent record against the Saints is nothing short of woeful. Since Grant Thomas made his "we're still the better side" comment we've copped 5 straight losses at an average of 10 goals with every game in reality over by half-time :P.

Like the bulldogs they have ran us off our feet in the midfield with Harvey, Dal Santo and Hayes doing as they please. Cogs hasn't done a bad job on Ball recently (whisper is Ball might miss :ssh). Then our backline usually has bags kicked against it from at least two of Gehrig, Riewoldt, Kosi and Milne.

It'd be a hard ask to knock the Saints off at the Dome even if we had won last week. After a 115 point loss :help. I hope I'm wrong and a miracle happens but I reckon we will keep with them for a quarter or a half then fall away in the second half. Even if we come out breathing fire, it only takes you so far.

Thoughts?

Saints do have the wood on us.

Its going to be very tough to win, but I expect us to be very competitive

Depends who steps up, and shows some leadership

We'll find out this week which of our players have any pride. Its too much to ask which one of them have any desire for success.

We need to bounce back after last week's horror, and it doesnt matter who we're playing this week. We have to show competitiveness. Another back to back performance like against the Dogs, we are in serious trouble.

I don't think there are many Tiger fans who think we can win but like 1980 said we need a competitive performance.

How close to do we need to be at the end for it to be "acceptable"? I would think within 5 goals  :-\

I dont know which was my fav game last year. Maybe flogging Carlton just because its Carlton.

But the most promising game for mine was against the Weagles when everyone was putting us down to get smashed, and we nearly pinched it.

My fav 2005 game. Just goes to show what a bit of belief can do. Why not this week?
