Tough time to be a free agent: The out-of-contract stars in limbo at your AFL club

RICHMOND

Big fish – Bachar Houli
With the second-most disposals in a premiership year, Houli is as dynamic a defender in the competition as any, turning defence into offensive chains frequently. Should Essendon lose Adam Saad, Houli would seem the perfect replacement for the backline, along with any club looking to inject some pace into its defensive half.

Minnows – Toby Nankervis is far from your typical minnow, both due to his size and the role he plays in the Richmond side. Geelong continues to look for a short-term bona fide ruckman in their tilt for premiership glory … could ‘Nank’ be their answer? Also, we can’t believe we’re saying this, but Marlion Pickett!? Two games in and he is showing all the signs of a game-changing player with a fierce attack on the footy. He’d be a brave man to turn his back on the club that gave him his debut in a premiership-winning side. Probably the most unlikely of all the minnows to move.
