Richmond team of the 21st century

 Why doesnt Knights qualify and tom lynch has only had one season but that season easily places him among the top 3 tall fwds if not fwds  we have had this century.

for me no squib it ups like Houli or Ellis.

Only three kpds to pick from one has been a great and the other two so so.
Apart from Brown No small fwds for me either. what a limited bunch to pick from. Mostly Soft or ordinary  wingers and fmd the ruck stocks are slim pickings as well
Anyway for me id go like this

Vlastuin - Gaspar - Grimes
Cameron - Rance - J Bowden
Wanted Deledio at H/B  but i needed a decent wingman.Prefer Bowden to Houli or Newman as a flanker.

Grigg - Knights - Deledio
this shows how limited the wing selections are.Its either those two or Freakin Brandy softie Ellis, cant find the ball and fumble when i do McIntosh or possibly Greg Tivendale lol. Maybe they should have put Caddy there lol.Grigg may not be everyones cup of tea he certainly aint mine but i reckon hes the best of a poor lot for the second wing spot.Knights imo does qualify 63 games not enough.

H/F Brown - Richardson - Lambert

FF/ Edwards - Lynch - Riewoldt

Lamenting we dont have an all round  small goal kicking fwd out of about 7 or 8 so went with mids come fwds in Edwards and Lambert.

R/ Ottens - Martin - Cotchin.
Fmd we have had a dearth of quality ruckmen at the club since the General. Ottens is easily the best of the rest weather you think him a traitor or not.
INT/ Prestia - Foley - A fit Coughlan - Campbell maybe, Tuck maybe  always had a soft spot for Tucky. Johnson maybe was never a real fan of him.

Tuck at his best was a effing elite tackler and extractor. Huge soft spot for me. Modest and decent guy too. Appreciated every minute he got out there.

Foley, Tuck at their best are stiff. Kellaway too.

Happy for Jackson to miss, I liked him personally for my own team but he really did only have one stellar year. I liked his hardness.

Bowden making the team is fine.


Nankervis is wrong IMO, as much as I am fond of him he probably only gets the nod because he's a dual premiership player. I don't think he's our best ruck at the moment - Soldo has gone past him and I can see CCJ doing the same. I also think Maric was better and in some ways I preferred both Stafford and Simmonds. All of the ruckman listed would be premiership players if they were playing in 2019 but arguably Nankervis' competitive spirit (akin to Maric IMO) was one of our key driving factors in 2017.
