“That Jaidyn Stephenson is not required in the Collingwood 22 says to me the Pies have the most depth in the comp.” - Damian Barrett.

The Todd River in the dry season has more depth than Barrett's opinions.. :shh

I think all Top 4 clubs are kinda similar depth wise. Maybe we’re an exception because We did an amazing job covering for Rance. But that first half of the season when everyone was injured was rough.

Stephenson is not being picked because he is a downhill skier. Looks good when the Pies are winning but goes missing when they are losing.

In the pre-bye 13 rounds last year we were the younger team in all but two games (Carl, Dogs). In the Geelong flogging and Adelaide loss we were on average over two years per player younger given all the senior players we were missing. Getting to the bye and remaining in top 4 and premiership contention was all down to our depth.

We could get depth like Collingwood... by picking up a lot of retreads. Mayne, Varcoe, Wells, Roughead, Greenwood...

I think that there are certain journo’s opinion pieces we should just blacklist from this forum.
Purple is at the top of that list
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Honestly I think if collingwoods best 22 isn't out there they are an ordinary team.

Case in point was R19 last year when they avoided a 50 point belting from us with some late cheapies.

And that was with cotchin on the bench for 3/4.
