Summary

* 11pm last night got a call from Gil. Thought the worse given it was past his bedtime but it wasn't. Gil said this is how it unfolded and what we have to do. Benny said we were prepared for this from when this started in March. We put the wheels in motion and adjusted accordingly.

* What will be will be. There's 118 games to go. We will fulfil our end of the bargain to complete the season.

* You just have to accept what will happen and make sacrifices. This is without precedent and we're learning as we go. We love playing footy and we've fortunately been given permission to still play during what is a serious health situation.

* No excuse due to covid. We're just not playing well. Hawthorn and St Kilda are playing exciting footy. Not taking away from them but we're not playing well either. We were in a worse hole last season and we got out of it. We can play better and we will.

* Sometimes it's the atmosphere and the crowd that make a difference between trying and really really trying and going to a new level. It's only natural when as a kid you dreamt to play and visualised to play in front of big crowds. They are athletes but also entertainers.

* We were a club that won premierships and then had a period in the wilderness. It only takes a couple of poor games to find yourself back in the field. So there's always the chance to challenge and prove yourself and get better. We've been fortunate as club to win a couple of premierships and this is a great test. But I don't think we're taking that success for granted. We're just not playing well. This season won't be one of just fitter, higher & faster wins but one of focus and resilience. In 20 years time, the records will only say who won the 2020 premiership with just a footnote to corona.
