Cheers. Good to hear about Dow. Keen to see him at AFL level.

Not sure bringing McIntosh in is the best way to address our current issues with disposal, decision making and lack of composure...another big issue atm is our tackling and he's a notoriously poor tackler particularly for his size, so he's not really going to help there either... :shh

Better option that Pickett at this time.

Disagree about his tackling. It is actually along with his gut running both ways one of his strength

The other thing he offers is a chop out in the ruck (believe it or not)

If we are going to persist in playing just one ruckman then KMac is far better option they Pickett or Lynch.

Agree with these.

Rioli out, Stack forward, Baker back.

McIntosh has running power.

Outs- Rioli- just putrid, Soldo- good last week but useless last night,  Pickett- putrid, Graham- needs to provide more than just effort at this level.

Ins- Dusty, Nank, Baker, CCJ

we need to start playing our young midfield and have Prestia, Martin, Cotchin, Edwards teach them.

RCD and Dow ... just play them!

Ch 7 news tonight said Dusty got through training today fine with no sign of any issues with his ribs and is right to play this week.

RICHMOND may be tempted to drop a couple of poor performers from its loss to Hawthorn as it prepares to face St Kilda this weekend.

Superstar Dustin Martin will train this week and should be right to play after missing last round’s game due to bruised ribs. Whether he’s 100 per cent, though, remains to be seen.

Premiership backman Liam Baker is back from Western Australia and will be available for selection after missing the Hawks loss due to a family matter. Other players that could be considered include Kamdyn McIntosh and Thomson Dow, while big men Toby Nankervis or Noah Balta could come in to bolster the Tigers’ ruck department against the top-heavy Saints.

But it’s who goes out that’s just as intriguing.

After kicking three goals in Round 1, Dan Rioli has failed to fire with six touches in each of his past two matches. Sydney Stack had 18 disposals against Hawthorn but six clangers, while Marlion Pickett and Jack Graham have both struggled to make impact in the past fortnight during Richmond’s draw to Collingwood and defeat at the hands of Hawthorn.

The Tigers made a big selection statement for last year’s Grand Final, picking Pickett to make his debut on the biggest AFL stage. Could they make big calls for this weekend’s match, considering they’re now 1-1-1 in a 17-round season?

Need an injection of pace but also youth & enthusiasm... shorter quarters should make it less of a risk.... :shh

Tigers could make four changes

By Marc McGowan

RICHMOND is set to welcome back dual Brownlow medallist Dustin Martin and Liam Baker among up to four changes to the side that suffered a disappointing loss to Hawthorn last week.

The Tigers have just one win through three rounds and are yet to salute since the season resumed, having also shared the points with Collingwood a fortnight ago.

Martin returns to face St Kilda on Saturday after missing the Hawks clash with rib soreness, while Baker briefly returned home to Western Australia after losing a family member.

"I think the week off no doubt helped him," Hardwick said of Martin.

"From our point of view, it was always touch and go last week but he's such an important player to the way we play – we just want to make sure he's right.

"He's a bit of a barometer for us as well, so we need to make sure we're giving him the best chance to play to the very best of his ability.

"It was just a rotational-type thing. Ribs are really difficult at various stages. There are some times when you can numb the pain and then there are times when you can't quite get the spot."

Hardwick hinted Martin was still not 100 per cent but the champion midfielder-forward has proven remarkably durable throughout his career.

His return is timely, given the coach's frustration at the "disconnect" between his midfielders and forwards, which was a problem in each of the past two rounds.

Martin, Baker likely to return as Tigers make changes

Hardwick said Baker was missed during last week's loss to Hawthorn.

"He will play his week, we missed Liam last week as he's very important to the way we structure up and the way we play," Hardwick said.

"He had a loss in regard to his family and we welcome him back. It was the right thing for Liam to do, to go back and pay his respects, we are glad we gave him the opportunity to do so."

The Tigers won't hesitate to make multiple changes to their side given the shorter nature of this season and the need to have form players on the field.

"We've generally been a side who in the back-end of quarters score heavily, that's been taken away so we will adjust a few things to get us up and going earlier," Hardwick said.

"There are players at development level who are playing very well. It's a shorter season so you have to play the guys who are in form."
