Why Hardwick would be "disappointed" with Richmond performanceBy SEN
3 September 2020Richmond left Metricon Stadium with four points on Wednesday night, but Nick Dal Santo was not convinced by their performance.
A four-goal fourth quarter saw the Tigers break away from Fremantle after a less than inspiring performance to that point. Coach Damien Hardwick clearly agreed as he gave the side an enormous spray during the final break.
They take on Geelong on September 11 in a game that will have enormous top four ramifications and Dal Santo believes Richmond must play significantly better than they did on Wednesday night to match the Cats.
“I’d love to be in the changerooms, we know he’s jovial at times, but they’ve only got two more games,” Dal Santo told AFL Nation.
“They’ve got the Cats next week and they’ve got a nine-day break, but if they perform like they did tonight, that’s not going to stack up against the Cats.
“The risk is, and I’m not saying it’s a huge risk right now, Damien Hardwick would be saying guys, ‘this is full dress rehearsal sort of stuff’.
“There’s David Astbury, Josh Caddy, Shane Edwards, Kane Lambert and Dion Prestia, there’s five that can come back into the team.
“In some ways I think Hardwick would be disappointed with the way that the game went, knowing in the last quarter when they had to flip the switch they did it comfortably in the end.”
